Winemaking Crafted from organically farmed vineyards in Gualtallary, Mendoza—an area prized for its altitude and limestone soils—Zorzal Chardonnay 2021 is a pure expression of cool-climate terroir. Grapes were hand-picked and fermented in concrete eggs and old French oak barrels with wild yeasts. The wine saw extended time on lees without bâtonnage, preserving minerality and structure while allowing gentle textural development.
Bouquet The nose is bright and mineral-driven, with aromas of lemon zest, green apple and white blossom. Subtle notes of chalk, almond skin and crushed stone reflect the influence of the stony soils and mountain air.
Palate Crisp and linear, the palate delivers citrus, pear and a hint of wet stone. A lean, fresh structure with mouth-watering acidity gives the wine energy and focus, while a whisper of oak adds roundness without dominating. Elegant, precise and refreshingly dry.
Food Pairing Pair with ceviche, grilled prawns, or lemon roast chicken. Also great with goat cheese salad, pan-fried fish or simple pasta with olive oil and herbs.
Cellaring Best enjoyed young and fresh, but will evolve with added mineral complexity through 2026.
Interesting Fact Zorzal’s vineyards sit at over 1,300 metres above sea level in the Andes foothills—among the highest in Mendoza—bringing natural acidity and purity to this vibrant, terroir-driven Chardonnay.
