Winemaking The Paradox is part of Yalumba’s Samuel’s Collection, representing Shiraz from the northern reaches of the Barossa Valley. This wine is about poise and restraint, rather than sheer power. Fermentation takes place in open-top fermenters, followed by maturation in a mix of French and Hungarian oak to preserve fruit character and add finesse.
Bouquet Dark plum, black cherry, and mulberry aromas mingle with clove, black pepper, and a touch of dried herbs and cedar.
Palate Medium to full-bodied with ripe dark fruits, silky tannins, and bright acidity. Elegant spice and subtle oak weave through the palate, leading to a long, polished finish.
Food Pairing A lovely match for chargrilled lamb, mushroom and lentil pie, or rosemary beef. Balanced enough for refined dishes, but bold enough for comfort food.
Cellaring Beautiful now but will evolve gracefully over 6–10 years, gaining savoury depth and silky texture.
Interesting Fact The name “The Paradox” reflects the style of this Shiraz — full of character and depth, but with a softness and elegance that surprises in a Barossa red.
