Winemaking Woodhenge is a bold expression of McLaren Vale Shiraz, showcasing ripe fruit, regional power, and classic oak integration. The 2021 vintage was fermented in open top fermenters, basket-pressed, and matured in a combination of French and American oak—some new, some seasoned—for added richness and structure.
Bouquet Concentrated aromas of blackberry, mulberry, and dark cherry, with mocha, liquorice, vanilla, and black pepper spice. Intense and brooding, with generous lift.
Palate Full-bodied and layered with plush dark fruits, firm tannins, and toasted spice. The palate is warm and dense, yet retains balance thanks to natural acidity and a savoury finish.
Food Pairing Perfect with chargrilled ribeye, slow-cooked lamb shanks, rich casseroles, or smoky mushroom burgers. A hearty red made for bold, flavour-packed dishes.
Cellaring Drink now after decanting, or cellar confidently for 8–10 years to reveal deeper savoury character and oak integration.
Interesting Fact Named after the imposing timber structure outside the winery (inspired by Stonehenge), Woodhenge reflects Wirra Wirra’s love for blending irreverence with craftsmanship.
