Warre’s Vintage Port 2017 comes from one of the finest declared vintages of the 21st century, known for its structure, intensity, and balance. Grapes are sourced from premier estate vineyards including Quinta da Cavadinha, Retiro Antigo, and Telhada, all of which experienced an exceptionally dry growing season that led to low yields and superb fruit concentration. Traditional granite lagares were used for fermentation with foot treading, preserving freshness and aromatics. The wine was aged in large oak vats for two years before bottling, unfiltered, for long-term ageing.
Bouquet Beautifully perfumed, with lifted floral notes of violets and rose petal. Beneath the floral top notes lie rich aromas of black cherry, raspberry compote, cassis, and dark chocolate, supported by hints of clove and savoury spice.
Palate Elegant and powerful in equal measure. Silky tannins frame vibrant red and black fruits—plum, wild berries, and blackcurrant—layered with mocha, spice, and crushed stone. The palate shows real energy and finesse, with a fresh backbone of acidity and a long, tapering finish that’s both intense and graceful.
Food Pairing Ideal with blue cheese, rich chocolate desserts, roasted almonds, or spiced fruit cake. For a traditional match, enjoy it with Stilton or after a fine roast dinner. Decant well if opening young.
Cellaring This is a wine built for long-term ageing. Enjoy from 2030, with a drinking window that extends to 2060 and beyond. Store horizontally in a cool, dark cellar.
