The Kin Chardonnay 2021 offers a captivating blend of Central Otago's signature ripe citrus and stonefruit flavours, combined with California-inspired layers of rich, creamy vanilla thanks to partial aging in American oak barrels. It’s the perfect fusion of two iconic wine regions, and it’s deliciously yum!

Crafted by Te Kāno, a family-owned, premium Central Otago producer based on Felton Road in Bannockburn, this wine offers a taste of exceptional craftsmanship. "Te Kano" means "seed" in Māori, reflecting the ancient Kōwhai tree seeds found on their Northburn vineyard.

Tasting Notes:

• Appearance: Bright, pale yellow with an even, concentrated colour.
• Nose: Aromas of ripe peach, lemon, hazelnut, vanilla, and subtle spice.
• Palate: A creamy mouthfeel with generous ripe stonefruit (apricot, nectarine), vanilla custard, roasted cashews, and a touch of warm spice. Balanced acidity flows along a slightly chalky line, with lingering rich, comforting flavours.
• Finish: Fresh mineral finish with a delightful balance of fruit and spice.

Vinification:
The 2021 vintage began with warm, wet weather, resulting in rapid early growth and excellent vine health. The warm late summer period led to lower yields of perfectly ripe fruit with excellent flavour concentration. The fruit was fermented in stainless steel and oak barrels and matured on full yeast lees for 10 months before blending and bottling.
