Winemaking Tapi Chardonnay 2023 is grown in Marlborough’s cooler coastal vineyards, where long sunshine hours and cool nights deliver naturally vibrant acidity and purity of fruit. Gentle pressing, partial malolactic fermentation, and ageing on fine lees enhance texture while preserving clarity. A portion of the wine is matured in seasoned French oak for added roundness and complexity.
Bouquet Bright and aromatic with notes of lemon zest, white peach, and apple blossom. Subtle hints of brioche and flint add a refined savoury edge.
Palate Crisp and finely balanced, the palate opens with fresh citrus and nectarine, followed by layers of creamy lees texture and a whisper of toasty oak. The finish is clean, refreshing and long, with saline minerality and lively acidity.
Food Pairing Delicious with grilled fish, lemon roast chicken, or fresh seafood pasta. Also pairs beautifully with goat cheese or vegetable tempura.
Cellaring Drinking beautifully now, though it will continue to develop texture and complexity over the next 2–4 years.
Interesting Fact Tapi is a proudly New Zealand-owned label, named after the towering Tapuae-o-Uenuku—Marlborough’s iconic mountain peak, visible from the vineyards on a clear day.
