Co-Ordinates Chardonnay 2023 – A Taste of Gisborne’s Legendary “O” Chardonnay
5 Stars Raymond Chan
Once upon a time, Montana’s iconic “O” Chardonnay was the benchmark for big, buttery, and bold Gisborne Chardonnay. If you remember that legendary drop, you’re in for a treat, because the Co-Ordinates Chardonnay (formerly known as Prospect Chardonnay) is made from the same revered Ormond Road vineyard by the very same winemaker—Steve Voysey.
For years, Voysey was the mastermind behind Montana’s famous “O” for Ormond and “P” for Patutahi. These days, he’s crafting his own masterpiece under the Spade Oak label, pouring decades of expertise and passion into every bottle.
Tasting Notes:
Aromas: Pure golden peach, toasted hazelnut, nougat, and warm butter, with a subtle touch of vanilla and light toast. Palate: Velvety and luxuriously creamy, the mid-palate overflows with rich stone fruit, buttery opulence, and nutty complexity, all balanced by a fresh citrus lift. A classic, full-bodied Chardonnay with a long, seductive finish that keeps you coming back for more.
Aged in French oak (15% new barrels) and lees-aged for 10 months, this wine is both nostalgic and modern—a true celebration of Gisborne Chardonnay at its finest.
Perfect Pairing: Indulgent roast chicken, creamy pasta, or a rich seafood dish.
