Crafted by Adi Badenhorst in South Africa’s Swartland region, Secateurs Red 2023 is a blend of Shiraz, Cinsault and Grenache, made from old, bush-grown vines. Fermented with native yeasts in concrete tanks and aged in large old barrels, this wine is made with minimal intervention to highlight natural fruit character and earthy, savoury complexity. It’s a modern expression of traditional Rhône-style blending.
Bouquet Fragrant and inviting, with aromas of redcurrant, wild strawberry and black cherry. Subtle notes of baking spice, lavender and earth add rustic charm.
Palate Medium-bodied and textured with soft tannins and juicy acidity. Flavours of ripe red berries, plum and spice unfold over a savoury, gently smoky mid-palate. The finish is fresh, supple and moreish.
Food Pairing Ideal with grilled meats, spiced sausages, lentil stew or Mediterranean vegetables. Also great with pizza, tapas or barbecued lamb.
