Produced in Portugal’s remote Douro Superior, Quinta do Crasto Superior Red 2020 is a bold, structured red made from a blend of traditional varieties including Touriga Nacional, Touriga Franca, Tinta Roriz, and others. The grapes are grown in schist-rich soils on high-elevation vineyards that bring freshness and finesse. After fermentation in stainless steel, the wine is aged for 12 months in French oak barrels, delivering elegance, richness, and age-worthy structure.
Bouquet Intense and refined with aromas of blackberry, black plum, and wild herbs. Notes of liquorice, violets, baking spice, and dark chocolate unfold with time in the glass.
Palate Full-bodied with dense fruit and fine tannins. Flavours of dark cherry, blueberry, and cassis are layered with cedar, cracked pepper, and a subtle mineral edge. Balanced acidity leads to a long, savoury finish.
Food Pairing Ideal with grilled lamb, chargrilled beef, venison, or hearty bean stew. Also excellent with hard cheeses or rosemary-spiced root vegetables.
Cellaring Enjoy now for its intensity, or cellar confidently through 2032 for added complexity and polish.
Interesting Fact The Douro Superior is the most inland and rugged part of the Douro Valley—once relatively unknown, it now produces some of Portugal’s most exciting red wines with natural freshness and depth.
