Born from the rugged beauty of Central Otago, Putangi Pinot Noir 2023 captures both the wildness and elegance of its origin. Handpicked grapes are crafted with care, fermented in small batches, and matured in French oak to preserve vibrant fruit and introduce subtle spice. This Pinot Noir honours the legacy of Richard Henry, a pioneering conservationist who, in 1894, sailed his dinghy Putangi through the remote Dusky Sound to save New Zealand’s rarest birds. His dedication, bravery, and connection to the land inspire every bottle.
Bouquet Fragrant aromas of ripe cherry, raspberry, and wild thyme, laced with floral notes and a gentle hint of spice.
Palate Silky and refined with a core of juicy red berry fruit, lifted by soft herbal notes and subtle oak spice. Fine tannins and a bright, flowing acidity carry through to a smooth, elegant finish.
Food Pairing Perfect with roast duck, lamb with rosemary, mushroom risotto, or a platter of aged cheese and cured meats. Also wonderful with slow-roasted vegetables or grilled salmon.
Cellaring Drinking beautifully now but will reward careful cellaring through to 2028. Decanting for 30–45 minutes will enhance its aromatic profile.
