Punt e Mes is a legendary Italian vermouth crafted in the tradition of Torino aperitivos. Its name, meaning “point and a half,” reflects the balance of one part sweet vermouth and half a point of bitter liqueur. Created by Carpano, pioneers of modern vermouth, it uses a base of wine aromatised with over 40 botanicals, including quinine and bitter orange peel, to create its distinct depth and complexity.
Bouquet Aromatically bold, with notes of dried citrus peel, cola spice, dark herbs, and burnt orange. There’s a rich undercurrent of wormwood and balsamic warmth that sets it apart from more delicate vermouths.
Palate Bittersweet and vibrant, Punt e Mes opens with soft caramel and rich red fruit, evolving into bitter herbal tones, clove, and orange zest. The bitterness lingers pleasantly, giving it superb structure for mixing or sipping. It’s a benchmark vermouth for a Negroni or Manhattan with added backbone.
Food Pairing Perfect as an aperitivo with marinated olives, anchovy toasts, or aged cheese. It also shines in classic cocktails, especially where a slightly more assertive vermouth is called for.
Cellaring Best enjoyed within 6–12 months of opening. Store in the fridge and use a wine stopper to preserve freshness.
