Winemaking Crafted from low-yielding vines on the free-draining, limestone-rich soils of the Waipara Valley, Pegasus Bay Pinot Noir is a benchmark for the region. The 2022 vintage was wild-fermented in small open vats, with a portion of whole bunches for added structure and aromatic lift. The wine spent 18 months in French oak barriques (around 30% new), creating depth, complexity, and beautiful integration.
Bouquet Brooding and fragrant with layers of dark cherry, blackcurrant, and wild strawberry, underscored by dried herbs, game, forest floor, and warm oak spice.
Palate Silky and concentrated, offering ripe dark fruit, fine-grained tannins, and vibrant acidity. Savoury and earthy elements build across the palate, leading to a long, harmonious finish. This is serious Pinot with depth and soul.
Food Pairing Pairs beautifully with duck confit, venison, wild mushroom dishes, or truffled lentils. A Pinot that deserves thoughtful food and good company.
Cellaring Enjoy now with decanting, or cellar confidently for 10–15 years. Will reward time with greater texture and complexity.
