Winemaking Neudorf’s Tiritiri Chardonnay 2023 is made from certified organic fruit grown on the clay gravel soils of Upper Moutere in Nelson. The grapes were hand-picked, whole-bunch pressed and wild-fermented in older French oak barrels. The wine underwent full malolactic fermentation and was aged on lees for 10 months, with gentle bâtonnage to enhance mouthfeel without sacrificing freshness. Crafted with minimal intervention, it’s a pure and honest expression of place.
Bouquet The nose is bright and fresh, with aromas of lemon zest, white peach and crushed seashell. Subtle hints of almond meal, flint and citrus blossom add lift and complexity.
Palate Zesty and finely textured, the palate offers layers of grapefruit, nectarine and soft mineral tones. A creamy mid-palate is balanced by vibrant acidity and a long, saline finish. This is a precise and lively Chardonnay with real charm and clarity.
Food Pairing Perfect with grilled fish, lemon chicken, or goat cheese salad. Also excellent with vegetable tarts, shellfish pasta or white bean dishes.
Cellaring Best enjoyed young for its freshness, but will develop added complexity through 2027.
Interesting Fact “Tiritiri” means “to shimmer” in te reo Māori—a fitting name for a wine that sparkles with lightness, brightness and effortless drinkability, while reflecting Neudorf’s deep roots in organic, sustainable farming.
