Millton Te Arai Chenin Blanc 2022 is one of New Zealand’s most enduring expressions of this Loire Valley grape, grown on biodynamically farmed vines in Gisborne. The fruit is hand picked, whole bunch pressed and fermented with indigenous yeasts in a mix of stainless steel and neutral oak. Extended lees ageing adds depth and texture, resulting in a complex, dry wine with hallmark acidity and savoury drive.
Bouquet Intensely aromatic with notes of quince, green apple, beeswax and wild herbs. A subtle floral lift and hint of lanolin add depth.
Palate Dry and textural with flavours of lemon zest, nashi pear, chamomile and honeycomb. Chalky and mineral through the mid palate, finishing long, layered and structured.
Food Pairing A natural match for roasted poultry, pork loin, creamy risottos or washed rind cheeses. Also beautiful with miso glazed eggplant or spiced lentil dishes.
Cellaring Delicious now, but will evolve beautifully over 8 to 10 years, developing honeyed richness and tertiary complexity.
