Maude Pinot Noir 2023 is a regional blend crafted from premium vineyard sites across Central Otago, including Bannockburn, Pisa and Gibbston. Hand-picked fruit is fermented in small batches, with some whole bunch inclusion for aromatic lift and structure. The wine is matured in French oak (25% new) for 10 months before blending and bottling. The Maude style focuses on vibrancy, fine tannin structure, and varietal purity—making it both expressive and approachable.
Bouquet Perfumed and bright with notes of red cherry, raspberry, and dried rose. Subtle hints of wild thyme, cinnamon, and cedar offer savoury depth and complexity.
Palate Silky and medium-bodied, with juicy red fruit, soft tannins, and a fine acid line. Flavours of cranberry, plum, and spice flow into a long, elegant finish with subtle oak integration and a savoury edge.
Food Pairing Ideal with duck breast, pork belly, herbed lamb, or grilled mushrooms. Also excellent with goat’s cheese, beetroot dishes, or roasted game birds.
Cellaring Drinking beautifully now but will continue to evolve through 2028. Cellaring will enhance the wine’s savoury character and complexity.
Interesting Fact Maude is a family-run winery based in Wānaka, and while they’re known for their boutique single vineyard expressions, this regional Pinot is a showcase of balance and Central Otago character in every glass.
