Winemaking The Art Series range represents the pinnacle of Leeuwin Estate’s winemaking. The 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon is crafted from mature vines in Wilyabrup and aged for 20 months in French oak barriques. A precise and expressive vintage, it reflects both the maritime climate and the deep gravel soils that define this premium subregion of Margaret River.
Bouquet Lifted aromatics of blackcurrant, red cherry, and mulberry. Hints of bay leaf, cedar, pencil shavings, and crushed violet offer layered complexity and regional typicity.
Palate Medium to full-bodied with beautifully integrated tannins and a core of pure dark fruit. Notes of cassis, dark chocolate, and graphite glide across the palate, supported by a line of fresh acidity and restrained oak. The finish is long, fine, and savoury.
Food Pairing An excellent partner for lamb rack, beef Wellington, duck confit, or mushroom ragù. Also suited to aged hard cheeses and rosemary-accented dishes.
Cellaring Built for long-term ageing, this wine will evolve gracefully for 15–20 years. Decanting recommended when young to allow full aromatic development.
Interesting Fact Each vintage in the Art Series is paired with a commissioned work from a leading contemporary Australian artist. The collection is as celebrated for its cultural significance as it is for the wines themselves.
