Laphroaig Quarter Cask is a bold expression of classic Islay whisky. After initial ageing in ex-bourbon barrels, the spirit is transferred to smaller quarter casks, increasing oak contact for enhanced richness and intensity. Bottled at a higher ABV (48%), it delivers signature Laphroaig peat smoke alongside sweet, spicy oak and coastal complexity.
Bouquet Powerful aromas of wood smoke, iodine, and sea spray, layered with vanilla, coconut, and toasted oak from the small cask influence.
Palate Full-bodied and intense. Peat smoke leads with a wave of char and earth, followed by rich flavours of toffee, vanilla bean, and spice. The mouthfeel is oily and warming, with a long, smoky finish that echoes salted caramel and oak tannin.
Food Pairing Perfect with chargrilled meats, blue cheese, or dark chocolate. Also excellent as a contemplative after-dinner dram, particularly with smoked almonds or cigars.
Cellaring Ready to enjoy now but stable for long-term shelf ageing. Store upright in a cool, dark place.
Interesting Fact Quarter casks were traditionally used for transporting whisky by horseback. Laphroaig revived this technique to intensify maturation—resulting in one of their most beloved modern expressions.
