Distillation & Maturation Lagg Kilmory is the flagship release from Lagg Distillery, the peated sister site to Isle of Arran’s Lochranza Distillery. Made using heavily peated Concerto barley (50ppm) and matured exclusively in first-fill bourbon casks, it is bottled at 46% with no chill filtration and natural colour. This is a contemporary island whisky with bold smoke, sweet malt and coastal freshness.
Nose Earthy and vibrant, with aromas of bonfire smoke, lemon zest, salted caramel and warm malt. Subtle hints of dried herbs and citrus peel rise with time in the glass.
Palate Bold and oily, the palate opens with smoked barley, vanilla toffee and peppered oak. Sweetness from the bourbon cask balances the peat, leading into a dry, ashy finish with lingering coastal spice and charred citrus rind.
Food Pairing Pairs beautifully with smoked fish, barbecue meats or roasted aubergine. Also great with hard cheeses or dark chocolate with sea salt.
Interesting Fact Lagg Distillery brings peated whisky production back to the south of Arran, a region historically known for its smoky drams before peated styles faded from the island. Kilmory marks the rebirth of that tradition in a bold and modern form.
