Distillation & Maturation Lagg Corriecravie is a heavily peated single malt from the Isle of Arran’s Lagg Distillery, matured first in bourbon casks before finishing in Oloroso sherry hogsheads from Jerez. Made from Concerto barley peated to 50ppm and bottled at 55%, non-chill filtered and natural in colour, it’s an intense, full-flavoured dram that fuses Islay-style smoke with sweet sherry richness and coastal freshness.
Nose Deep and brooding, with aromas of bonfire smoke, sultana, leather and dark chocolate. Sherry sweetness and maritime notes weave through dried fruit and earthy spice.
Palate Full-bodied and warming, the palate opens with spiced fruit cake, roasted coffee, black pepper and waves of peat smoke. The sherry finish brings depth and richness, balanced by toasted oak, treacle and a long, smoky finish with lingering tannins and sea salt.
Food Pairing Perfect with grilled venison, blue cheese or dark chocolate torte. Also pairs beautifully with smoky charcuterie or barbecue ribs.
Cellaring Drinking superbly now, especially with a splash of water. Will continue to evolve over the next 5–8 years.
Interesting Fact Corriecravie is named after a small village near the distillery on the southern tip of Arran—reviving the island’s historic legacy of bold, peated whiskies once common before the 19th century.
