La Goya Manzanilla En Rama Reposada XL is a rare, long-aged Manzanilla from Hidalgo-La Gitana, drawn from select barrels in the solera of La Goya, one of Sanlúcar de Barrameda’s most iconic wines. Bottled en rama—unfiltered and straight from the cask—this edition spends extended time under flor, resulting in a deeper, more complex expression known as Manzanilla Pasada. The wine is aged in coastal cellars, where the influence of sea breezes and humidity adds a distinctive saline edge.
Bouquet Intensely aromatic with notes of sea spray, green almond, chamomile, and bruised apple. Layers of dried herbs, sourdough crust, and flor yeast offer savoury intrigue.
Palate Dry, concentrated, and incredibly textural. Flavours of salted hazelnut, lemon peel, and chalky minerality ride on a spine of piercing acidity. The finish is long, bone-dry, and filled with nutty, oxidative depth. A complex and contemplative style.
Food Pairing Perfect with anchovies, Jamón Ibérico, marinated olives, or grilled prawns. Also brilliant with sushi, sea urchin, or rich vegetarian tapas.
Cellaring Best enjoyed within 1–2 years of bottling. Once opened, consume within 5–7 days and store chilled to preserve its delicate freshness and flor character.
Interesting Fact The “XL” refers not to bottle size, but to extra long ageing, as this version of La Goya spends significantly more time under flor than the classic En Rama—creating a wine of rare structure and intensity.
