Distillation & Maturation Kavalan Concertmaster is a single malt whisky from Taiwan, finished in a mix of ruby, tawny and vintage port casks after initial ageing in American oak. Matured in the subtropical climate of Yilan, this whisky develops quickly and intensely, resulting in a dram that’s both fruit-forward and velvet-smooth. Bottled at 40%, it’s approachable, expressive and unmistakably Kavalan.
Nose Aromas of red berries, plum, vanilla and soft oak, followed by hints of coconut, candy floss and spiced fruitcake. Elegant and layered.
Palate Silky and sweet on the palate, with flavours of stewed berries, port wine, dark chocolate and toffee. Gentle tannins from the casks add grip, while tropical fruit and honeyed malt round out a long, juicy finish with subtle spice and warmth.
Food Pairing Pairs beautifully with dark chocolate, berry cheesecake, or duck with plum sauce. Also lovely with blue cheese or walnut tart.
Cellaring Enjoy now for its plush fruit and elegance. Once opened, this whisky continues to shine with gentle breathing.
Interesting Fact Kavalan was Taiwan’s first whisky distillery, and its fast-maturing spirit—thanks to the country’s warm climate—has won global acclaim for delivering exceptional complexity in a shorter time than traditional Scotch.
