Kanonkop Kadette Cape Blend 2021

Crafted with meticulous care at the legendary Kanonkop estate in Stellenbosch, the Kadette Cape Blend 2021 is Pinotage-dominant and proudly expressive of its South African roots. Fermented in open-top concrete tanks at controlled temperatures, the cap was punched down every two hours for optimal flavour extraction. Post-fermentation, the wine spent 12 months maturing in second and third fill French Nevers oak barrels, allowing for gentle integration and complexity. The blend includes 39 percent Pinotage, 30 percent Cabernet Sauvignon, 27 percent Merlot, 3 percent Cabernet Franc and 1 percent Petit Verdot.

Bouquet:
The nose is vibrant and richly layered, revealing red raspberries, black cherries and ripe plums, all laced with warm notes of cinnamon and baking spice.

Palate:
A supple and expressive palate brims with dark berries, juicy red fruit and a whisper of chocolate. Fine tannins and bright acidity add lift and balance, leading to a lingering finish that is both plush and poised.

Food Pairing:
A versatile partner to grilled lamb, pepper steak or roasted aubergine with couscous. Try it with a South African bobotie or spicy sausages for a regional match.
