Winemaking Grown in certified organic vineyards in Marlborough’s Wairau Valley, Huia Chardonnay 2022 is made using minimal-intervention methods. The hand-picked fruit was whole-bunch pressed and fermented with wild yeasts in French oak barrels (25% new). Full malolactic fermentation and 11 months on lees enhance the wine’s creamy texture and savoury depth, while preserving bright acidity and clarity of fruit.
Bouquet The nose is fresh and lifted, offering lemon zest, peach and ripe apple alongside hints of toasted almond, vanilla and a subtle flinty edge.
Palate Smooth and inviting, the palate delivers juicy citrus and stone fruit layered with nutty oak and creamy lees texture. A fine mineral thread and lively acidity give focus and energy, finishing clean and elegant with a hint of savoury spice.
Food Pairing Perfect with roast chicken, grilled salmon, or creamy pasta with herbs. Also excellent with risotto primavera, soft cheeses, or pan-fried fish with lemon butter.
