Hernö Gin is distilled in Dala, a remote village in northern Sweden, and is proudly Europe’s most awarded craft gin. Created by Jon Hillgren, a passionate distiller inspired by the purity of his homeland, Hernö is crafted from 100% organic ingredients. The base is wheat spirit, redistilled in hand-hammered copper stills with a focused selection of botanicals—juniper from Hungary, meadowsweet, cassia, coriander, black pepper, fresh lemon peel, vanilla, and lingonberries. Bottled at 40.5% ABV, this gin is a masterclass in balance, clarity, and finesse.
Bouquet Pure and elegant, with fragrant juniper leading the way. Behind it, citrus zest, floral meadowsweet, and a hint of vanilla offer softness and lift. A touch of forest berry gives it a distinctly Nordic character.
Palate Smooth and silky with bright, crisp juniper at its core. Zingy lemon peel and warming spices emerge mid-palate, layered with creamy vanilla and a whisper of herbal sweetness. Clean, refreshing, and refined, it finishes with grace and poise.
Food Pairing Outstanding in a classic G&T with a twist of lemon or paired with oysters and smoked salmon. For a Scandi-inspired serve, enjoy it chilled with gravlax or pickled herring. Also shines in a dry Martini or Negroni.
Cellaring Best enjoyed fresh and vibrant. Once opened, keep in a cool, dark place and enjoy within 12 months to preserve its clarity and finesse.
Interesting Fact Hernö was the first dedicated gin distillery in Sweden—and it still runs on a small scale with just two stills named Kierstin and Marit. Despite its size, it's won over 100 international awards.
