Hans Herzog Pinot Noir 2020 is crafted from a tiny, organically farmed single vineyard in Marlborough’s Wairau Valley. Meticulous handwork, extremely low yields, and minimal intervention produce a wine of extraordinary concentration and refinement. Wild fermented and aged in fine French oak for 18 months, this Pinot Noir reflects both the winemaker’s uncompromising standards and the character of the site.
Bouquet Elegant and powerful with aromas of ripe cherry, dark berry, dried herbs, forest floor, and a hint of smoky spice.
Palate Silky and rich with vibrant red and black fruits, fine savoury tannins, earthy depth, and vibrant acidity. The finish is long, layered, and beautifully balanced.
Food Pairing Perfect with Italian porcini mushroom risotto, French duck à l'orange, New Zealand venison loin, or aged Gruyère cheese. Also excellent with truffle-infused vegetarian dishes.
Cellaring Drinking beautifully now but will reward cellaring through to 2035. Decant for an hour if enjoying young to reveal full aromatic complexity.
