Winemaking La Turque is one of Guigal’s most celebrated single-vineyard Syrahs, sourced from a steep, terraced site in the Côte Brune of Côte-Rôtie. The vineyard’s schist soils and ideal south-east exposure provide the foundation for depth, minerality, and age-worthy structure. Co-fermented with a small percentage of Viognier, the wine spends over 40 months in 100% new French oak barrels—a hallmark of Guigal’s signature élevage. The 2018 vintage is richly concentrated, generous in texture, and destined for greatness.
Bouquet Aromatically explosive with blackberry compote, cassis, and blueberry, woven with violet, exotic spice, smoked meat, and polished oak. Complex and ever-evolving with air.
Palate Full-bodied and velvety with layers of dark fruit, graphite, cured meat, and black pepper. Fine yet structured tannins support an expansive mid-palate and a finish that is long, savoury, and mineral-laced. A wine of both richness and precision.
Food Pairing Best with slow-roasted lamb, venison, truffled mushroom dishes, or duck confit. A wine for refined cuisine and special occasions.
Cellaring Impressive now with extended decanting, but truly built for the cellar—capable of ageing gracefully for 20–30 years or more.
Interesting Fact La Turque, along with La Mouline and La Landonne, forms Guigal’s famed “La La” trilogy—wines that have redefined Côte-Rôtie and earned global acclaim as some of the most collectable and revered Syrahs in the world.
