Winemaking La Landonne is a 100% Syrah cuvée from a steep, terraced vineyard on the schist-rich slopes of the Côte Brune. Known for producing the most structured and long-lived of the “La La” wines, the 2013 vintage was cool and challenging, leading to a wine of great precision and focus. Aged for 42 months in new French oak, this vintage delivers power, purity, and extraordinary depth.
Bouquet Deep and savoury with intense aromas of blackberry, roasted meat, black olive, and ironstone. Complex notes of liquorice, leather, spice, and smoked herbs emerge as the wine opens in the glass.
Palate Full-bodied and dense with a core of dark fruit, firm tannins, and layered savoury complexity. La Landonne is brooding and structured, with flavours of plum, black pepper, charcuterie, and graphite carried by exceptional length and mineral tension.
Food Pairing Best with slow-braised beef, lamb shanks, venison, or aged hard cheeses. A wine made for deep-flavoured dishes and long, contemplative meals.
Cellaring Built for serious cellaring—will evolve over the next 20–30 years, gaining nuance, earthiness, and refined length with age. Decant if opening young.
Interesting Fact La Landonne was introduced in 1978 and is the only “La La” made entirely from Syrah. It’s revered for its structure and longevity and is a cornerstone of Rhône Valley collecting worldwide.
