Distillation & Maturation Glenfarclas 12 Year Old is a hallmark Speyside single malt matured entirely in Oloroso sherry casks. Produced by one of Scotland’s last truly family-owned distilleries, it is bottled at 43% and known for its richness, balance and approachable style. This expression strikes a beautiful middle ground between sherried depth and everyday drinkability.
Nose Warm and inviting with notes of dried fruit, honey, toffee and a gentle waft of oak. Subtle hints of orange zest, malt biscuit and sultana rise with time in the glass.
Palate Medium-bodied and silky, the palate reveals flavours of fruitcake, caramel, toasted almond and light spice. The sherry cask influence brings juicy raisin and soft tannin, with a mellow finish of oak, nutmeg and a whisper of cocoa.
Food Pairing Pairs well with roast pork, spiced nuts or crème brûlée. Also lovely alongside fruit-and-nut chocolate or a cheese platter with quince paste.
Cellaring Ready to enjoy now, though it will continue to open up beautifully once the bottle is opened. A rewarding dram to revisit over time.
Interesting Fact Glenfarclas has been owned and run by the Grant family since 1865—one of the very few distilleries in Scotland to remain independent and family-led through six generations.
