Winemaking Crafted at The Glasgow Distillery, Glasgow 1770 Peated is a contemporary take on peated single malt whisky, produced in small batches and matured in first-fill ex-sherry and virgin oak casks. Bottled at 46% ABV, non-chill filtered and natural in colour, it’s a bold, characterful dram that showcases the richness of peat smoke woven through layers of oak, malt and dark fruit. The 500ml format makes it a perfect introduction to this award-winning distillery’s smoky side.
Bouquet Waves of bonfire smoke and dark chocolate meet dried orange peel, toasted spice and sweet malt. There’s a hint of espresso and earthy oak in the background, giving it real depth.
Palate Bold and warming. Flavours of rich toffee, burnt citrus, smoked oak and spice unfold across a velvety texture. The peat is assertive but balanced, revealing notes of cracked pepper, liquorice and roasted nuts. A long finish brings lingering smoke, fruitcake and charred oak.
Food Pairing Best enjoyed neat or with a splash of water. Pairs beautifully with smoked brisket, chargrilled lamb, blue cheese or dark chocolate truffles. Also excellent with toasted nuts by the fire.
Cellaring Ready to enjoy now but will continue to evolve in bottle over 5–7 years. Store upright and sealed in a cool, dark place.
Interesting Fact The name “1770” pays tribute to the founding year of the original Glasgow Distillery. Revived in 2014, this new chapter brings together traditional whisky-making and modern craft ethos—making it one of Scotland’s most exciting new distilleries.
