Winemaking Part of Esk Valley’s small-batch Artisanal range, this Syrah is crafted from select parcels grown in the warm, gravelly soils of Hawke’s Bay. Wild fermentation, gentle extraction, and ageing in older French oak barrels allow the purity of fruit and natural spice to shine. The 2021 vintage offered ideal conditions, producing a wine of balance, vibrancy, and aromatic complexity.
Bouquet Bright and expressive with notes of black cherry, plum, and blueberry layered over black pepper, violet, and a touch of dried herb. Fragrant and inviting with a subtle savoury thread.
Palate Medium-bodied with lively acidity and fine tannins. Juicy dark fruits are complemented by peppery spice and gentle oak influence. A fresh, food-friendly Syrah with charm and energy.
Food Pairing Perfect with grilled lamb, roasted aubergine, spicy sausage, or lentil and mushroom stew. Versatile and approachable for casual meals and shared plates.
Cellaring Delicious now and will evolve over the next 4–6 years, developing more savoury depth and softness.
