Embark on a sensory journey with Escarpment Kupe Pinot Noir 2021, a genuine reflection of the unique terroir of Escarpment's home block on Te Muna Road, Martinborough. This wine reflects near-perfect growing conditions, resulting in exceptional fruit that exudes balance and elegance. Fermented using indigenous yeast in open-top fermenters, and hand-plunged daily for 31 days, this wine showcases the essence of the Abel clone with finesse. Aged for 19 months in 42% new French oak barriques, it boasts ripe flavours and full tannins, bottled without fining or filtration to preserve its soft mouthfeel and balance. Upon release, in July 2023, it reveals a crimson red hue with a deep dark core, offering a lifted and fragrant bouquet that marries grace and poise with an alluring charm. Delicate yet bold, it unfolds on the palate with cascading red and black fruits, intertwined with notes of perfume, spice, dried porcini mushrooms, and cured meat. Evolving in the glass, it embodies the classic "iron fist in a velvet glove," with firm tannins rounding out its opulent fruit profile, promising rewards with patient cellaring for up to 20 years.
