Winemaking Dry River Craighall Riesling 2023 comes from the renowned Craighall vineyard in Martinborough, planted in deep alluvial gravels. The fruit is hand-harvested in pristine condition, gently whole-bunch pressed, and fermented at low temperatures to retain purity. A small amount of natural residual sugar is balanced by racy acidity, creating an off-dry style with tension, energy and finesse.
Bouquet Delicate yet expressive, the nose opens with lime blossom, green apple, jasmine and honeysuckle. Subtle hints of lemon curd, flint and wet stone add complexity.
Palate Taut and finely textured, the palate delivers flavours of citrus, white peach and mandarin. A mineral backbone and vibrant acidity carry through to a long, clean finish with just a touch of sweetness for harmony.
Food Pairing Beautiful with fresh seafood, Vietnamese salads, pork dumplings or goat cheese. Also excellent with Thai curry or grilled zucchini with lemon and herbs.
Cellaring Will age gracefully for 10–15 years or more. Over time it will develop honeyed richness and deeper savoury layers while retaining its striking acidity.
Interesting Fact Dry River was one of the pioneers of Martinborough wine in the 1970s, and Craighall Riesling has since become one of New Zealand’s most sought-after and age-worthy aromatic whites.
