Product description
From the prestigious Clos de Vougeot vineyard, the 2021 vintage of Domaine Méo-Camuzet’s Grand Cru is a standout. The vineyard's 50-year-old vines are managed with utmost care, and the wine undergoes traditional winemaking methods, including manual harvesting and fermentation in oak barrels. The wine is aged for 18 months in a combination of new and old French oak barrels, imparting structure and finesse while preserving the fruit’s purity.
Bouquet The nose is expressive, offering aromas of ripe red berries, forest floor, and subtle spice. There's a hint of violet and a touch of smoke, which lend an air of elegance and depth. This is a complex bouquet, revealing layers as it evolves in the glass.
Palate On the palate, the wine is both powerful and refined. Rich flavours of dark cherry, blackcurrant and earthy undertones meld with hints of roasted coffee and licorice. The texture is silky, with well-integrated tannins and a vibrant acidity that balances the depth. The finish is long and persistent, with a subtle minerality that speaks to the terroir of Clos de Vougeot.
Food Pairing This Grand Cru is perfect with classic French cuisine, such as coq au vin, beef bourguignon, or grilled lamb. For an elevated pairing, enjoy with a selection of aged cheeses or a charcuterie platter.
Cellaring This wine has excellent ageing potential. Best enjoyed from 2028 to 2045, though it can be enjoyed now with decanting.
