DeMorgenzon Reserve Chenin Blanc 2020 is made from low-yielding vines planted in 1972 in decomposed granite soils in Stellenbosch. The grapes are handpicked, and fermentation takes place naturally in French oak barrels, with about 20% completing malolactic fermentation. The wine is aged on its lees for 10 months in oak barrels, allowing for a harmonious integration of flavours.
Bouquet The nose offers ripe peach and apricot aromas, with floral undertones and subtle hints of toasted almond and vanilla. The oak influence is beautifully integrated, adding nuances of nutmeg and a touch of smokiness, which enhances the complexity of the wine.
Palate On the palate, the wine is generous and creamy, with vibrant acidity that balances the richness. Flavours of pear, honeyed citrus, and Golden Delicious apple unfold, leading to a long, lingering finish. The combination of lush fruit and crisp acidity creates a well-rounded and elegant wine.
Food Pairing This Chenin Blanc pairs beautifully with seafood, particularly oysters and grilled white fish. It also complements light vegetable dishes, goat cheese, or poultry.
