De Martino Carmenère 2023 is produced in the Maipo Valley, one of Chile’s most historic wine regions. Grapes are harvested by hand and vinified with minimal intervention to express purity and place. Fermentation takes place in stainless steel with natural yeasts, followed by ageing in large, old oak barrels. This restrained approach results in a Carmenère that is vibrant and fresh, yet rich in varietal character.
Bouquet Expressive and earthy with aromas of blackberry, plum and sweet paprika. Notes of bay leaf, tobacco and dark chocolate add warmth and complexity.
Palate Medium to full-bodied with velvety tannins and a savoury edge. Flavours of black cherry, cassis and roasted red pepper are lifted by a touch of spice and a clean, herbal finish.
Food Pairing Excellent with grilled meats, chargrilled vegetables, chilli con carne or hard cheeses. Also delicious with slow-roasted lamb or smoky eggplant dishes.
