Winemaking Craggy Range’s Kidnappers Chardonnay is grown on the cool, windswept Te Awanga coastline in Hawke’s Bay. The 2022 vintage was hand-harvested and whole-bunch pressed before fermentation in a mix of stainless steel and seasoned French oak barriques. Partial malolactic fermentation and 9 months on lees enhance the wine’s texture while maintaining a crisp, mineral-driven style true to its maritime origin.
Bouquet The nose is bright and clean, with aromas of lemon zest, green apple and white flowers. Subtle hints of oyster shell, almond and crushed stone reflect its coastal influence.
Palate Fresh and inviting, the palate offers citrus, crisp pear and a touch of creamy lees. A fine line of acidity runs through the wine, giving it vibrancy and length, while the saline finish adds elegance and focus. Pure, precise and effortlessly drinkable.
Food Pairing Perfect with oysters, grilled fish or a light goat cheese salad. Also pairs well with seafood linguine, vegetable tarts or as an aperitif on a warm evening.
Cellaring Enjoy now for freshness or cellar through 2027 to allow gentle evolution and added savoury character.
Interesting Fact Named after Cape Kidnappers, the iconic coastal headland near the vineyard, this Chardonnay captures the ocean’s imprint—cool, saline and refreshingly pure.
