Crafted from the famed Gimblett Gravels subregion in Hawke’s Bay, this 2023 Chardonnay reflects Craggy Range’s precision winemaking. Hand-harvested fruit was gently whole-bunch pressed and fermented in fine French oak barrels, with partial malolactic fermentation and extended lees contact to build texture and depth.
Bouquet The nose is poised and pure, offering layers of white nectarine, Meyer lemon and grapefruit peel, supported by hints of almond, wet stone and subtle baking spice from the oak.
Palate Vibrant and elegantly structured, the palate reveals fine citrus and peach notes with creamy undertones. A sleek mineral edge adds drive and tension, while restrained oak enhances the finish with nutty, savoury complexity.
Food Pairing Serve with grilled fish and lemon butter, roast chicken with herbs, or a warm leek and goat’s cheese tart. Perfect with creamy seafood pasta or smoked kahawai.
Cellaring Enjoy now for its freshness and finesse or cellar confidently for 4 to 6 years to reveal added depth and harmony.
