Connemara Original is a rare peated Irish single malt whiskey, produced at the Cooley Distillery in County Louth. Unlike most Irish whiskies, which are known for their smooth, unpeated style, Connemara revives the old Irish tradition of drying malted barley over peat smoke. Double distilled and aged in oak barrels, it delivers a unique fusion of soft, sweet malt and warming smoke.
Bouquet Fresh and inviting with aromas of honey, heather, gentle smoke, and green apple, lifted by floral notes and a touch of spice.
Palate Smooth and balanced. Flavours of vanilla, pear, and malted biscuit intertwine with a soft waft of earthy peat smoke. Light-bodied and approachable with a long, clean, smoky-sweet finish.
Food Pairing Pair with smoked salmon, creamy cheeses, or roast chicken. Also great with apple tart or enjoyed neat as a gentle introduction to peated whiskey.
Cellaring Ready to enjoy now. Store upright in a cool, dark place. Will remain stable in bottle for many years.
Interesting Fact Connemara stands out as one of the only peated Irish whiskies in regular production—bridging the gap between the sweetness of Irish whiskey and the smokiness of Islay malts.
