Cockburn’s Vintage Port 2017 is a standout from a declared vintage considered one of the finest of the 21st century. Sourced from the legendary Quinta dos Canais and other top Douro estates, the wine is made using traditional foot-treading in granite lagares and aged for two years in large oak casks before bottling unfiltered. The 2017 vintage was marked by low yields and intense concentration, producing a Port of immense depth, power, and structure—crafted to age gracefully for decades.
Bouquet Intense and youthful, with aromas of black cherry, cassis, and blueberry compote. Layers of violets, dark chocolate, liquorice, and crushed rock reveal themselves with time. A heady nose that promises richness and elegance.
Palate Full-bodied and opulent, yet beautifully balanced. Dense dark fruit flavours—plum, blackberry, and blackcurrant—are woven through with firm tannins, lively acidity, and notes of sweet spice, dark cocoa, and graphite. The finish is long and warming, with impressive purity and structure. A classic, cellar-worthy Vintage Port.
Food Pairing Perfect with blue cheese, dark chocolate desserts, roasted nuts, or after dinner with a cigar. Also excellent with spiced fruitcake or a rich beef stew. Decant before serving if drinking young.
Cellaring Built to age for generations. Drink from 2030 onwards, with a peak drinking window between 2040 and 2060+. Store lying down in a cool, dark cellar.
