Clearview Sea Red NV is a fortified dessert wine made from late-harvested red grapes grown along the Hawke’s Bay coast. Once the fruit reaches optimal ripeness and concentration, fermentation is halted by the addition of grape spirit, preserving natural sweetness and deepening the wine’s body and flavour. Aged in barrel to build complexity and harmony, Sea Red is crafted in a luscious, port-style expression designed to warm and delight.
Bouquet Intense and perfumed, with aromas of blackberry compote, dried fig, plum jam, and dark chocolate. Hints of clove, liquorice, and vanilla bean linger beneath the fruit.
Palate Decadent and full-bodied with a silky, mouthcoating texture. Rich flavours of black doris plum, cherry liqueur, and raisin weave together with mocha, spice, and a subtle nutty warmth. Sweet but beautifully balanced by fresh acidity and fine tannins, it finishes long and velvety.
Food Pairing The ultimate match for blue cheese—especially Stilton or gorgonzola. Also pairs wonderfully with dark chocolate torte, Christmas pudding, or glazed ham. Try it with a cheeseboard and dried fruits for a crowd-pleasing finale.
Cellaring Ready to enjoy now but can cellar gracefully for 8–10 years. Once opened, store in a cool place and enjoy over a few weeks.
Interesting Fact Clearview’s Sea Red takes its name from the estate’s coastal setting at Te Awanga and has become a cult favourite in their lineup. It’s a rare red dessert wine in New Zealand—and one of the few that pairs so naturally with pungent blue cheese.
