Winemaking Clearview’s Reserve Chardonnay is a true Hawke’s Bay classic, made from coastal Te Awanga fruit known for its power and concentration. The 2023 vintage was hand-picked and barrel fermented in 100% French oak, with a high proportion of new oak contributing toast, spice and texture. The wine underwent full malolactic fermentation and spent 10 months on lees with regular stirring, resulting in a full-bodied style that’s big, buttery and unmistakably Clearview.
Bouquet The nose is rich and expressive, bursting with ripe peach, grilled pineapple and lemon curd. Notes of vanilla bean, toasted cashew, smoky oak and crème brûlée add warmth and indulgence.
Palate Decadent and inviting, the palate is layered with golden stone fruit, citrus cream and roasted nuts. A buttery texture flows through the mid-palate, supported by fine acidity and spicy oak. Full-bodied and satisfying with a long, toasty finish—this is Chardonnay for lovers of big, bold flavour.
Food Pairing Perfect with pork belly, roast chicken with truffle butter, or creamy seafood pasta. Also excellent with crayfish, aged gouda, or pumpkin ravioli in sage butter.
Cellaring Delicious now, but will continue to evolve. Drink through 2031 for added savoury depth and integration of oak.
