Made from hand-harvested fruit grown near Te Awanga’s coastal vineyards, Beachhead Chardonnay reflects Clearview Estate’s signature style—generous, textured, and unmistakably Hawke’s Bay. The 2024 vintage was barrel-fermented in a mix of seasoned and new French oak, followed by lees stirring to develop a creamy mouthfeel. Partial malolactic fermentation adds softness, while bright acidity keeps the wine lively and balanced.
Bouquet Fragrant notes of ripe stone fruit, grilled pineapple, and lemon curd are laced with hints of hazelnut, vanilla, and smoky oak. A breeze of sea air gives it a subtle saline lift.
Palate Full-bodied yet beautifully poised. Layers of white peach, baked apple, and citrus custard glide across the palate, framed by fine oak spice and a savoury, nutty undertone. The texture is smooth and satisfying, with a long, clean finish that hints at butterscotch and flint.
Food Pairing Delicious with roast chicken, crayfish in garlic butter, or creamy pasta with mushrooms. Try it with baked brie or butternut squash risotto for a cosy coastal indulgence.
Cellaring Drinking beautifully now but will continue to evolve gracefully for 4–6 years, gaining complexity and deeper texture with time.
Interesting Fact The name “Beachhead” pays tribute to Clearview’s seaside location, just metres from the Pacific Ocean. That maritime influence brings a distinct freshness and natural acidity to their coastal Chardonnays.
