Winemaking Grown at altitude in Lebanon’s Bekaa Valley, Château Musar’s reds are famously made from a blend of Cinsault, Carignan, and Cabernet Sauvignon. The 2017 vintage was fermented with wild yeasts and aged for a full year in French oak before undergoing extended bottle maturation in the family’s cool stone cellars. As always, the wine is bottled unfiltered and with minimal intervention, allowing for authenticity and evolution over time.
Bouquet Alluring and aromatic with notes of dried cherry, fig, and plum layered over sweet spice, leather, and forest floor. Aromas of cedar, orange peel, and tobacco add intrigue and warmth.
Palate Silky and savoury, with dried red fruits, black tea, and cinnamon spice. Tannins are fine and evolved, lending a velvety texture. A gentle earthiness and acidity carry the wine to a long, elegant finish that continues to develop in the glass.
Food Pairing Perfect with lamb tagine, chargrilled vegetables, aged cheeses, or game dishes. Also pairs beautifully with Middle Eastern cuisine, lentil stews, and spiced meats.
Cellaring Already showing maturity and complexity, Château Musar 2017 will continue to evolve gracefully over the next 10–15 years. Decanting is recommended to allow full aromatic expression.
