Product description
A tribute to the Perrin family’s late patriarch, Hommage à Jacques Perrin is the pinnacle wine from Château de Beaucastel, produced only in the finest vintages. The 2016 vintage is a masterpiece, blending primarily Mourvèdre with smaller amounts of Grenache, Syrah, and Counoise. The grapes are hand-harvested from the estate’s oldest vines in Châteauneuf-du-Pape and fermented in large oak foudres using natural yeasts. Ageing takes place over 12–18 months in oak, allowing the wine to develop extraordinary structure and depth. Only a limited number of bottles are released each year, making this an ultra-rare collector’s gem.
Bouquet Profound and brooding, with intense aromas of blackcurrant, spiced plum, and wild herbs. Layers of leather, smoked meat, lavender, and crushed stones unfold, underscored by earthy truffle and dried rose petals. A nose of exceptional power and finesse.
Palate Rich, concentrated, and monumental in scale. Dark berries and black olive dominate, wrapped in a dense structure of firm tannins and fresh acidity. Notes of garrigue, black pepper, and balsamic reduction build in complexity. Despite its intensity, there’s grace and harmony in every sip. The finish is endless, echoing spice, earth, and mineral freshness.
Food Pairing Pair with aged game meats, venison, slow-cooked beef cheeks, or truffle-infused dishes. Decant several hours before serving and savour with serious cuisine—or let it shine on its own as a meditative experience.
Cellaring This wine is made for decades of cellaring. Begin drinking from 2030 if desired, though it will reward patience well into the 2050s or beyond. Store in pristine, cool conditions to ensure long-term evolution.
Interesting Fact Hommage à Jacques Perrin is one of the most sought-after Rhône wines in the world, and a benchmark for Mourvèdre-based blends. The 2016 vintage is considered among the greatest ever produced at the estate.
