Produced only in exceptional vintages, La Grande Année Rosé is the pinnacle of Bollinger’s house style, marrying power with finesse. The 2014 vintage is a blend of 63% Pinot Noir and 37% Chardonnay from 19 crus, 79% of which are Grand Cru. The base wine is entirely fermented in old oak barrels—true to Bollinger tradition—adding depth and complexity. The rosé component comes from 5% still red wine from the legendary Côte aux Enfants vineyard in Aÿ. Aged on lees for over 7 years and riddled by hand, this is a serious rosé built to age. Dosage: 8 g/L.
Bouquet
Complex and inviting, the nose offers aromas of wild strawberry, cherry, and redcurrant, layered with dried orange peel, rose petals, and hints of gingerbread, hazelnut, and chalk. It’s deeply expressive, with a seductive interplay of fruit, spice, and minerality.
Palate
Textural and precise, the palate reveals ripe red berries and blood orange overlaid with notes of pink peppercorn, pastry cream, and a fine saline edge. The mousse is delicate, the acidity finely tuned, and the oak fermentation lends a signature savoury undertone. Long, chalky, and deeply satisfying—this is a rosé Champagne for collectors and connoisseurs.
Food Pairing
Stunning with duck breast and cherry jus, grilled lobster, or roast quail with raspberry glaze. For a bold match, try it with aged cheeses or wild mushroom risotto. Equally suited to a special meal or the centrepiece of a celebration.
