Cable Bay Waiheke Island Five Hills 2019

Immerse yourself in the rich tapestry of flavours with Cable Bay FIVE HILLS Merlot Malbec 2019, this distinctive blend reveals a symphony of aromatics - notes of leather, blackberry, Medjool date, and black doris plum dance gracefully from the glass, while subtle hints of rosemary flowers and toasty oak spices add depth and complexity. On the palate, encounter a masterful interplay of flavours - blackcurrant, savoury smoky roast meat, coffee, and chocolate - underscored by a mineral texture reminiscent of clay pots and volcanic rock, a testament to the wine's unique origin. Solid tannin structure and beautiful shape promise graceful ageing, with each element contributing to the wine's longevity. Crafted with precision, the grapes are handpicked in March, then gently fermented in small open-top fermenters to ensure delicate extraction of colour and tannins. After pressing, only the finest free-run wine is aged for 17 months in French oak barriques, allowing for integration and maturation before bottling. This wine will reward cellaring for 15+ years, or will be thoroughly enjoyable upon release for a more robust experience!
