Crafted by the acclaimed Boekenhoutskloof estate in Franschhoek, The Wolftrap Red 2022 is a rich blend of Syrah, Mourvèdre and Viognier. Fermented in stainless steel to preserve freshness, then matured briefly in oak to soften and integrate the blend. The result is a bold yet approachable red that captures the wild spirit of the Cape.
Bouquet: Dark berries, smoky spices and dried herbs rise from the glass, supported by notes of cracked pepper, liquorice and a gentle floral lift from the Viognier component.
Palate: Smooth and full flavoured with ripe plum, black cherry and blackberry compote. Layers of spice and earthy undertones bring depth, while supple tannins and a touch of savoury oak round out the finish.
Food Pairing: Excellent with smoky barbecued meats, beef brisket, venison sausages or a hearty bean stew. It also makes a great partner to aged gouda or sharp cheddar.
