Faraón Oloroso is a traditionally made dry sherry from Bodegas Hidalgo La Gitana, one of Sanlúcar de Barrameda’s most respected producers. Crafted from 100% Palomino Fino grapes, the wine is aged oxidatively in American oak casks using the solera system for over 10 years. Without the flor layer that protects Fino or Manzanilla, the wine develops deep, nutty complexity and a rich, savoury profile that is unmistakably Oloroso.
Bouquet Deep and aromatic with notes of walnut, polished wood, dried orange peel, and fig. Hints of leather, spice, and roasted almond reflect its extended ageing.
Palate Full-flavoured and dry. Rich nutty tones of hazelnut and pecan sit alongside caramel, old oak, and subtle balsamic depth. The texture is broad yet elegant, carried by vibrant acidity and a long, dry, warming finish.
Food Pairing A brilliant match for hard cheeses, slow-cooked pork, mushroom dishes, or game meats. Also works beautifully with consommé, rich pâté, or earthy tapas.
Cellaring Fully mature on release. Once opened, it will stay fresh for 4–6 weeks when sealed and stored cool. No decanting required.
Interesting Fact The name ‘Faraón’ means pharaoh in Spanish—a nod to the wine’s regal character and deep, golden hue that calls to mind something truly ancient and enduring.
