Product description
At $19.99 the L'alcool Team rates this as the best Primitivo buy in the market!
Winemaking Crafted in the sun-drenched region of Salento in Puglia, this Primitivo is made using the traditional appassimento method, where a portion of the grapes is partially dried before fermentation. This concentrates sugars and flavours, resulting in a wine that’s rich, soft, and generously flavoured. Fermentation is followed by a short maturation in oak to add polish and complexity.
Bouquet Plush aromas of black cherry, dried fig, and plum jam are wrapped in notes of sweet spice, vanilla, and a touch of cocoa. Fragrant and inviting, with Mediterranean warmth.
Palate Full-bodied and velvety with ripe dark fruit, chocolate, and cinnamon. The wine has a smooth texture and gentle tannins, finishing soft, round, and satisfyingly rich.
Food Pairing Perfect with hearty Italian fare like lasagne, meatballs in tomato sauce, grilled sausages, or hard cheeses. A delicious fireside red or companion to your next pasta night.
Cellaring Enjoy now for maximum fruit expression. Will hold well for up to 3–5 years if you prefer a mellow, softer style.
Interesting Fact Primitivo is genetically related to Zinfandel and thrives in the heat of southern Italy—particularly in Puglia, where wines like this show richness without sacrificing freshness.
Available at L’alcool, a family-owned wine store with nationwide delivery across New Zealand, bringing you sun-soaked reds and Mediterranean favourites from small producers.
