Crafted at The Balvenie Distillery in Speyside, this 12-year-old single malt gains its name and complexity from maturation in two distinct cask types. First aged in traditional ex-bourbon American oak barrels to develop soft sweetness and spice, then finished in first-fill Oloroso sherry casks for richness and depth. The DoubleWood process highlights the distillery’s signature honeyed style with layers of fruit and oak influence.
Bouquet Fragrant and expressive with notes of sweet dried fruit, spice, and toasted almond, alongside hints of vanilla, cinnamon, and honeycomb.
Palate Smooth and warming. Flavours of sherried fruit, nutty spice, and soft oak unfold over a creamy malt base. The finish is long and gentle, with lingering notes of raisin, clove, and honeyed wood.
Food Pairing Perfect with roast pork, sticky toffee pudding, or nutty cheeses like aged Comté. Also a lovely match with almond biscotti or ginger cake.
Cellaring Ready to enjoy now but will remain stable for many years. Store upright in a cool, dark place.
Interesting Fact Balvenie is one of the few distilleries in Scotland to still grow its own barley, use traditional floor maltings, and employ an onsite cooperage—all contributing to its distinct, handcrafted style.
